Who we are

Ms. Stensrud is a renowned 25-year veteran of the marketing business. An accomplished executive with seasoned experience in strategic brand building, financial turnarounds, operational execution and teambuilding, her career has spanned the fields of fashion, architecture, technology, and consumer beauty products with market leaders in each. A particular hallmark of her leadership style and success is a consistent ability to form strong partnerships and relationships with employees, customers and stakeholders. For Songmasters, she is lead consultant for brand identity and imaging initiatives.

Most recently, as President of the Women’s Sportswear Division for Tommy Hilfiger USA, her mission was to refocus the brand’s market position and broaden the consumer reach of Tommy Hilfiger fashion apparel prior to the company’s acquisition by Apax Partners in late 2005.

Prior to joining Tommy Hilfiger, Stensrud was CEO and Vice-Chairman of Victoria+Co, purchased by Jones Apparel Group in 2000, where she tripled sales revenue, becoming the world’s largest fashion jewelry company. Brands marketed globally included Givenchy, Judith Jack, Napier, Nine West, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Jaclyn Smith, Disney, and others with diverse distribution ranging from mass to luxury retailers.

Stensrud is the founder of Hudson River Partners, LLC—an ongoing enterprise specializing in the restoration and resale of historical residential properties in the Hudson Valley region, and through which she provides strategic marketing consulting services to for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises. Her earlier career included sales and marketing leadership positions with IBM, Avon Products, and Hambrecht Terrell International, a firm specializing in retail architecture.

As an active community leader, Stensrud serves on several not-for-profit boards in which she assists with the development of strategy, marketing and development including the Girl Scouts Council of Greater New York as First Vice President and Secretary; the Center for Women’s Business Research, Washington, D.C.; and Board of Trustees for The Preservation Society of Newport County, Newport, Rhode Island. She is a former board member and Executive Committee member of Junior Achievement Inc. of New York, the Fashion Accessories Council (as a founding member), and Vice-Chair of Hudsonia Ltd. (a biodiversity research institute serving the Hudson Valley and New York City environs).

Stensrud has been the recipient of many professional honors throughout her career. A lifelong musician, she attended the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York, and holds both an MBA and BA from Golden Gate University, San Francisco where she graduated with honors.
