Paul Shavelson

Mr. Shavelson brings over 30 years of production experience to Songmasters. Currently Executive Producer for JECO Entertainment, his career began in 1978 with field-production and editing for international fashion segments for programs such as the Today show on NBC. His work has evolved over the years to include a wide variety of programs and formats. Shavelson has enjoyed high visibility within the television industry as Executive Producer of over 1,000 half-hour episodes of Crossing Over with John Edward, a show he shepherded from its humble inception on the Sci-Fi Cable Network to its five-year+ run (ending in 2005) via national syndication. He has since then been involved with several related projects including John Edward Cross Country.

Shavelson has produced and directed more than 1,000 hours of PBS Programming including such award-winning documentaries as Art In Its Soul and Dialogue, one of the first computer-interactive television series. Always a champion of innovation in television and new technologies, his foresight earned him the first grants from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts to pioneer internet use for film and television.

Shavelson also has extensive experience with the news/information format, as the original Producer for the critically acclaimed FX cable morning show, Breakfast Time, as well as Executive Producer on the Fox Network version, Fox After Breakfast. He also served as Co-Executive Producer and Director on numerous other daytime shows on Fox as well.

Over the years, Shavelson has been a key player in launching many other cable and broadcast programs. His wide range of television and video experience includes producing and directing numerous television commercials, music videos, pay-per-view specials, television pilots, as well as holding a government position as Senior Communications Expert of the State of New York. He has produced and directed everything from 30-second news insets for Hearst Television to creating highly rated 90-minute TV Guide Celebrity Specials.
