Ms. Cohen has been a marketing executive for nearly thirty years. As Managing Partner of Songmasters, she is responsible for the design and coordination of all Songmasters’ integrated marketing and brand communications programs and for the coordination and oversight of the international marketing and distribution activities of the Songmasters’ company, The Music Coalition. After leaving her position in 2001 as Vice President of Product Development at Warner Music International, the global arm of all Time Warner music labels, she assumed full-time duties as Managing Partner of Songmasters, which she founded in 1994.

An expert in both domestic and foreign music marketing, Cohen’s articles on artist development and marketing have been translated into six different languages. Frequently interviewed and quoted in trade journals, she has also been the subject of profiles in numerous publications as a result of her expertise in the various emerging entertainment applications of new technologies such as fiber optic and satellite delivery systems, high definition video and computer-driven multi-media systems.

Over the course of her career, she has worked in all areas of domestic and international recorded music marketing, distribution and finance. Among her many accomplishments, after serving as Director of Press and PR for WEA worldwide, Cohen created and launched the product management department at WEA International (now Warner Music International) and soon thereafter was named Director of Product Development to oversee the U.S. marketing of all artists signed to the company’s 47 foreign affiliates as well as of all WEA International artists abroad. Later, in her position as Vice President for Product Development, her responsibilities expanded to include oversight of all areas of creative services (i.e., packaging, merchandising, video production and more) as well as marketing coordination and artist development for the company’s operations in over 65 countries. In addition, Cohen oversaw the international videos and tours for Warner, Elektra, Atlantic, Geffen, and Maverick Records and served as the international representative at all Time Warner Music Group label/financial meetings. She also has extensive experience in the negotiation of domestic and international licensing agreements and was responsible for opening several new markets, including China, for the Warner Music Group.

During her tenure at Time Warner, Cohen also served as a member of its New Technology Committee which was responsible for review and early adoption recommendations for all new technologies with potential applications for the entertainment divisions of Time Warner. She spearheaded the corporation’s acquisition strategy of companies engaged in various aspects of video and multi-media production and delivery. She also served on the Time Warner Synergy Committee and on the Time Warner Education Committee, both of which were charged with developing and implementing corporate-wide programming and sponsorship opportunities.

Cohen originally established Songmasters in order to produce events and recordings of trademark artists that would benefit charitable endeavors. Among these, she co-created, produced and wrote the acclaimed original Songmasters Inside-Out series sponsored by American Express Platinum Card Division for the benefit of numerous charities. This highly successful celebration of the great masters of songwriting featured 65 artists and reached an estimated 22 million people through its extensive national media coverage. She subsequently produced numerous, large scale performances for private and public participation for other charitable groups including the Reebok Human Rights Awards, AmFAR, The 50th Anniversary of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights, Goodwill Games, and for the televised showing of Christmas at the Vatican, among others.

Cohen has also developed successful sponsorship and co-promotions with numerous major corporations, both through cause-related marketing efforts and as direct marketing tools of substantial benefit for corporations. It was during this time that she developed the unique approach Songmasters uses to improve clients’ core business while enhancing overall brand favorability and providing support for causes important to the client’s targeted consumers. Since 2001, the distinctive approach to corporate marketing created by Cohen relies on music as an accurate and precise demographic tag that allows Songmasters’ clients to improve their bottom line while contributing positively to the quality of life in the communities they serve based on knowing the music their targeted consumers love and the causes they care about.

Cohen has also worked extensively with artists as a writer, arranger, producer and co-performer. She has served as a consultant in recording and film industries in areas ranging from placing recordings in film soundtracks (e.g. Jennifer Warnes in Dirty Dancing) to managing comebacks, such as the legendary Dusty Springfield. Among other awards, she received the distinguished David McCord Award from Harvard University, from which she graduated magna cum laude, for “outstanding contribution to the arts by a creative artist.”
